Utilising the full capacity of any storage boxes, partially full or bulging boxes may tip or collapse but remember not to overload them with heavy items – you may have to carry them!
  • It is sensible to use good quality storage boxes.
  • Clearly label or number boxes to easily locate them when you need them. Don’t forget to keep an inventory.
  • Always use bubble wrap to protect any fragile items.
  • Begin storing with heavy or bulky items first to provide a good stacking base
  • Plan your storage space - put those items that you need to get to most often near the front of the container.
  • To maximise space stack similar sized boxes together
  • If you do store refrigerators or freezers always leave the doors open for ventilation
  • Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in boxes, marked fragile and stacked on their end
  • Avoid stacking or leaning furniture or delicate items against the container walls to aid ventilation
  • Use dust sheets to protect your items.
